COST

$650.00 (includes food and lodging/transportation in Mexico) a $100 non-refundable deposit is due with registration.

ADDITIONAL COSTS:
Travel to/from Del Rio, TX
Lodging Sunday Night and Thursday night in Del Rio

WHAT TO BRING

+ CURRENT PASSPORT! for crossing the border. THIS IS NOW MANDATORY.
+ We suggest minimal camera gear if possible.  Challenge yourself to have one or two of your favorite lenses and a camera in a smaller bag. If you are coming directly from a different photography job or traveling directly after the photo build, we can secure extra gear in Acuna or at the hotel in Del Rio.
+ Clothes to work in. We are doing construction so closed toe shoes and long pants are wise to wear. Shorts, cutoff shirts, tank tops not allowed on the work site.
+ Sunglasses, hats, bandannas and sunscreen.
+ Sleeping pad/cot/air mattress and sleeping bag.
+ All tools for building will be provided but if you have any special tools you’d like to bring, feel free.
+ If you feel you want to give financially to Casas and their cause contact them directly to arrange a donation.
+ You will need very little cash while in Mexico. Dollars are excepted everywhere.
+ Casas por Cristo will take care of all food and transportation while in México. You simply need to get to the El Paso HQ on Monday morning. There is plenty of space to park, and secure offices to store extra gear or equipment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a team, we will be building a home for a family in great need of a safe and secure home, currently living in a shack made of cardboard and pallets. Their average weekly salary is around $60. It is our mission to provide for this physical need, as a tangible expression of God’s love and provision in their lives.

Our Mission

With the utmost respect and sensitivity to our fellow neighbors, our goal is to capture and define what “SERVE” means. Above everything else, the mission is not about you, not about me, not about our organization, and not about the organizations we pair with. It’s about the people being served through the organizations we partner with.
